Our Wills and Probate Department provide an unrivalled level of client care. We like you to feel comfortable and unhurried in giving your instructions, and in return we aim to prepare documents quickly and efficiently. If you have mobility problems please telephone us as we can usually arrange to visit you at home.
We recommend that everyone should make a Will regardless of the value of their assets. Some 64% of the population have not made a Will and the very people who are most in need of a Will, (such as single parents appointing guardians for children) are the least likely to have made a Will. Legal Help is sometimes available for making Wills, and for those over the age of 55 we also operate the Cancer Research Free Will Scheme. Wills are also an important method of Inheritance Tax Planning. Through our meetings with you we will discuss your assets and tailor our advice according to your needs.
Our Probate Service aims to proceed with matters in an efficient and timely manner, whilst being sympathetic to the fact that this is likely to be one of the most difficult times in your life. We are also able to advise on intestacies and tax planning, for example by post death variations.
We have built up a wealth of experience in Powers of Attorney matters, including the implementation and registration of the new Lasting Powers of Attorney which came into force on 1st October 2007, being one of the first firms in the area to set up and register these documents.
Eva Synowiec, in charge of the Wills & Probate Department, is a Solicitor with several years' experience. She joined us in December 2009.
